Plant Specialist
Looking to join a fun and hardworking team who loves plants? We are looking for a Plant Specialist who is experienced in customer service and enthusiastic about succulents! The ideal candidate is eager to learn and grow, while always focusing on the customer’s experience. In this position, you will deliver an amazing experience for every person that walks into our urban desert, provide quality care for our plant inventory, operate the cash register, and keep the shop stocked, presentable, and organized!
Position Type: Full-time/Part-time, 30-35 hours per week; must be available on weekends and evenings
Location: A Succulent Day, 2753 W. State St. Boise, ID 83702
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Responsibilities and Duties:
Expert Plant Care: Monitor the health of all plants and take appropriate actions such as watering, pruning, pest management, and disease control.
Customer Consultation: Provide expert advice and recommendations to customers about plant selection, care, and the ideal setup for their spaces.
Educational Workshops: Assist with workshops and demonstrations for clients covering a variety of topics related to succulent and cacti care. These often take place in the evenings or on weekends.
Inventory Management: Assist in receiving, pricing, and managing inventory to ensure a diverse and healthy selection of plants.
Display and Merchandising: Design and maintain attractive plant displays that enhance the customer experience and promote sales.
Point of Sales: Efficiently operate the Square POS system for all transactions and process in-person, online, and phone orders.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED; pursuing or completion of a degree in horticulture, botany, education or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Must possess at least 2 years of proven customer service or retail service experience, with a strong ability to engage positively with customers, provide knowledgeable assistance, and ensure a high-quality shopping experience.
Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work independently and within a team environment, and strong attention to detail and cleanliness. The ability to design and embrace aesthetic, creative work is preferred.
Characteristics: Passionate about plants, especially succulents and cacti; a desire to continuously grow and share knowledge with others; a curiosity about interior and plant design.
Expectations: Comfortability climbing ladders, lifting 50lbs, and working outdoors in varying weather. Must be able to balance many priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization. All employees should be willing to receive constructive feedback and maintain a positive, safe environment for others.
